NPC's sound cool, though not as thoguh their skills could get any worse. Story sounds a bit like a spin on Factions though, with this "infecting the land" bit, but if it's anything like the Prophecies story with all twists and turns etc, it will be fantastic.

Opeth11, your post speaks Volumes about post made from Gaile on these forums, more than you will ever know.

The OPs description sounded promising, now to see how much of it we will really see.

The hold back of info could be one of 3 things:

1. the information is false (I hope not)
2. the information is true but glorified (meaninf the real info could stop sales)
3. the information is actually better and ther ehoping to ooverwhelm us into a buying frenzy b4 we spot any faults

anyway custom henches would be great I keep my friends tight and powerfull, so while i do PvE with people i often take henches to

I wonder how far I go with then.....finally set Lukas up with danika.....Save nika from that Pervert mhenlo (I have soooooo much proof, just talk 2 cyan (or wat ever her name is) in the temple mission, or how about the fact in to the temple mission at the end mhenlo wants to stay here with nika?)

thats just paranoia...I doubt the luxon or kurizk hench would be there anyway
would be nice if the plot changed only slightly if you had factions...like in some areas a henchman would be replaced with a Kurzik luxon who heared you came here and went looking for you, not changing much just a different hench 4 1 mission

Wow, they added Henchway,2 professions, and re-did everything else.

Anyone else think this is BS?

How cool would it be to customize you're henchmen, then have battles with 3 or four people on each team each controlling their henchmen army! It would be like the squad aspect of Battlefield 2! Wtf?! You got my fps in your mmo! You got your mmo in my fps!!

I like the customized henchie's idea, the reason for that might be as Nightfall seems much bigger then Factions there might be problem getting people for teams as the population of players would be spread over a vast landscape. It would be cool if they could add in pet armor aswell.

How is allience battles "all about PvP"?
1.Last i heard alliance battles have you going against teams of other players making them pvp
2.You have to trek through pve to reach arenas but does that make an arena pve?no.
3. If you unlock skills in pve it affects skills for your pvp characters, but that doesn't mean pve is only there to support pvp. Neither is the reverse true.

Not trying to flame here, but i wholeheartedly agree that factions is way too pvp oriented and i will be ecstatic to see Nightfall bring back more of the pve element to the game. Some of these rumored changes should make life a bit easier, as well, instead of having to rely on random players(who are very cool) and ditchers.

it all seems awesome but i hope they add something more then just customizable henchies because if you can't control them well, why bother to customize them?

Wow, how did I miss this amazing thread for six days? First off, Gaile shouldn't have ever replied at all to this post. Actually leaving no comment is 100 times better than making a post to say you have no comment. People are becoming pretty skeptical of everything Gaile says. Will GW have to get a new PR representative if the GW community revolts against Gaile? O.o

The customizable henchman idea sounds great. I like the HvH idea because I don't like taking an hour to form a group just to discover that the group sucks. It's a general description, so who knows if you'll actually be playing alongside your hench or you'll be trying to use it solo vs. another hench trying to overcome limited commands to defeat your foe.

I'm still not sure why people think Chapter 3 will support Rits and Sins in any way shape or form. If you take a rit or sin to prophecies can it buy factions armor and factions skills? Do you think the chapter 3 professions will be able to come to Cantha or Tyria and get Elonian armor/skills? No to both. There will be FoW armor for Paragon and FoW for Dervish. Other than that there won't be any support for chapter specific characters outside their specific chapters.

R/P will make such a sick hench, so easy to play simple AI can do it, and they do incredible damage from ranged (no hench delay running between targets.)

I have a fear though... are your customizable henchies only going to be able to use a primary profession /gasp. If you do this Anet I shall hate you.

If the henches are like two classed henches, I think my monk will spend time customizing her SS/SV necromancer hench

EDIT: changed the word "be" to "time". Don't know how the word "be" got in there O.o

Also. What other races of humans are featured here or there in the original prophecies campaign. We've got the Canthans that worked the guild halls and storage units, the Elonians who long ago failed in the desert. I'm trying to think of what other nationalities are hanging around in Prophecies. Any of the lore people know if the Shining Blades are just the jungle people or do they have origins off-continent? Of course there are the Orrians but they got pwned and sunk to the sea a long time ago. Mayhaps a future chapter takes us to a land some of them escaped to. The dwarves are there as well, but they're not human, so what other races from prophecies can people think of that we might see tying in to future chapters? Do those random bandit-like people that hang around the Villainy of Galrath quest location have anything to do with anything?

• Customizable Heroes (party NPCs) that level up with the player, follow player instructions in combat, and use armor, weapons, and skills of the player’s choice.

Kind of like the level 6 NPCs at Beacon's Perch that level up with you so that you may later go down and explore Lornar's Pass.

• A new game type, Hero vs. Hero Battles will allow a single player to participate in PvP with hero NPCs.

Yay scrimmaging rocks for soul reaping, death magic, etc... w00t.

• Two new professions: The Dervish, a scythe-wielding holy warrior and The Paragon, the guardian angels of the Elonian people.

Yay I didn't want to improve assassin or ritualist either, they were just a one shot deal too awesome!

• 4 new guild halls.

Good, because the current ones suck. I can't win one fight in the current guild halls because they stink too bad.

• 300 new skills.

But about 150 of them will be copies.

• 250 Quests, 55 explorable areas, 20 new Story Missions, and three new Challenge Missions.

And you'd think they'd come out with a new realm of the gods with every release. That's not a whole lot of area really when you compare it to Tyria.

• Peerless online RPG action with no monthly fees!

Whoo! Yeah! Even poor noobs get in on the action, especially if they have no friends! Alright!

The customizable henchmen seem really cool. The Hero vs Hero thing is also something to get me excited about!

I'm glad the storyline is going back to Prophecies, beacuse i have both GW and the Factions Plague storyline is quite boring....

Am i the only one think Gaile means, these feature are planned but subject to change, feature may or may not be remove until it is finalise and announced by A-net?

Which mean, those feature listed are 'correct' in a sence but we cannot confirm about it because they are still subject to change until they finalise the content.

Pretty much, yeah. More precisely, it means:

"The list is the correct list of tentative features. But it wasn't meant to be released just yet. It was for internal use only, but somebody in NCsoft's marketing department wasn't aware of it, was overeager and gave it to the top games retailers in order to water people's mouthes and increase preorder sales. Now we try to hush it up so that people are confused. This way we still get the promotion benefit of people talking about our product, but it's all inofficial rumors so in case we have to scrap any of the features nobody can blame us."

It also means:

"PC Format magazine paid NCsoft money so that they get the exclusive right to be the first to reveal the customizable henchmen "heroes", so that people buy their magazine. So we can't allow games retailers to publish that information first. At least not officially."
